The Intern Effect 2024: a celebration of progress and possibility

On 12th September 2024, The 10,000 Interns Foundation hosted The Intern Effect – an evening dedicated to recognising the power of representation, celebrating the collective progress we’ve made over the past four years, and unveiling the Foundation’s first-ever Impact Report.

Held at Sweeties at The Standard, London, the event brought together a dynamic mix of alumni, board members, partners, key stakeholders, and supporters of our mission. It was a moment to reflect, re-energise, and look ahead.

Our goal was to honour the thousands of interns, donors, and organisations who have helped shape a new standard for what equity of opportunity can look like in the UK. From powerful speeches by Wol Kolade, Rebecca Ajulu-Bushell, and 10K alumni Bacar Mane, to live storytelling and immersive visuals, the evening was a multi-dimensional celebration of impact and ambition.

Thanks to the collective efforts of our team and attendees, the energy and messaging of the event resonated beyond the room – sparking conversation, championing inclusion, and spotlighting the urgent need for continued action.

The Intern Effect 2024 wasn’t just a look back – it was a declaration of what comes next. A shift in strategy. A renewed commitment. And a reminder that when Black talent is given the opportunity to thrive, the effect is transformational.
