OUR STORY
The 10,000 Interns Foundation story is one of humble origins. Acutely aware of the lack of representation in their sector, our four founders piloted a programme offering 100 Black students paid internship opportunities in Investment Management.
The impact of the programme was felt beyond the sector, and calls for expansion led us to a greater mission; to offer 10,000 internships to Black and Black heritage students and graduates across over 25 industries in the UK.
We knew our model was addressing a particular “kink in the hosepipe” and could be used to support other underrepresented groups.
Fast forward to 2024, and the Foundation’s 10,000 Black Interns programme is supporting the UK’s fastest growing network of Black talent into work, soon to reach its original mission of building a community of 10,000 Interns.
We are well on our way to creating a community of 10,000 talented individuals, but we also recognise that impact doesn’t just happen at scale, and culture is made in the moments where no one is looking. So, our programme aims to change the face of British business, whilst our insights are used to develop more inclusive practices and culture change.

“As a wheelchair user, the gap in the market for a framework to better tap into disabled talent was an obvious one. Conversations with participating organisations and our amazing interns have only affirmed this – the amount of top talent being overlooked due to institutional barriers is staggering”.
